The gorgeous coast in the Lentas area has even more to offer besides being a fabulous place for swimming or just relaxing all day at one of the beautiful beaches. The crystal clear, warm sea also invites underwater exploration. Crete’s southern coast is a fantastic diving area. The rugged cliffs along the shoreline continue down into the sea and underwater visibility ranges from 20 to 40 metres.
During a dive, you can view a fascinating seascape of caves, colourful grottos and spectacular steep cliff faces, canyons and reefs. A dive here is accompanied by typical Mediterranean marine life and you can discover creatures like starfish, squid, octopus, crabs, fish and morays. Sea turtles that visit the Lentas area again and again are very shy. However with a bit of luck, you might just be able to encounter one of them during a dive.
If you are looking for a bit of variety and would like to dive in and take a look beneath the surface of the sea, you can do this in the Lentas area with a very experienced diving teacher.
Diving instructor Manolis Koulentakis has been leading dives with tourists in the area for over 30 years now and knows the most beautiful and interesting places beneath the sea for you to explore. He is a trained and certified diving teacher and offers safe dives for individuals and small groups. Even children or adults who have never tried diving before can give it a go under his watchful eye. Manolis provides careful, clear and secure instruction for a first simple dive. Whether you are an experienced diver, or someone who just would like to try it out, Manolis can lead you to the best seascapes in the area. Keep in mind, though, that your destination with him will also depend on your dive date’s weather in general – and the sea’s currents and waves.
