[Translate to Englisch:] Die Stadt Mires
On the road to Mires you will first pass the natural spring of Krotos. There you can fill some bottles with the healthy natural spring water. The "Lentas Water" is bottled in this area and sold all over Greece.

From Krotos to Mires you will then pass Miamou, it is told that the name comes from "Mia" which means "one" and "Omada" which means "Group". This name discribes that after an epedimy only a few people survived and settled there. After Miamou all of a sudden you will have a magnificent view over the valley which lies at the foot of Aesterious Mountains: the Messara. There you can visit the ancient ruins of Gortys and Festos - or go to the small city Mires.
Mires is the Central City in the plain with supply and administration centers. Everything you need is available: two big supermarkets and every saturday morning is a large market with local specialities and kind of a fleemarktet with clothes, stichery and weaving cloth. To the west of the market there is a "donkey parking place" for the farmes who still carry their product by the quadrups.
